Welcome to this space called Beauty4SoulPaint. I am a painter, and Artist of Life and a Mom. I love mochas, the south, old houses, decorating, writing, soulspace and searching for beauty to paint everywhere.

I want this to be a place where I can come and write about beauty, life, decorating, art and gratitude. Where we can talk about what inspires us each day and all the small ways we are grateful. What sings to your heart. What beautiful message stirs in you. Brave and surrender are the words I am hearing these days. It really is an amazing feeling when you can listen and find those words among the craziness of a day. Today I am going to be brave and make shortbread fall cookies with cranberries mixed in. A little something special to bring when I see my mother-in-law tomorrow. I'm in a fall baking mood! So I'm off to sip my warm cup of pumpkin mochaness...yum and start the day! Will write soon.

You can tell it's fall when you dress the kids and they need a light sweater before leaving to go outside in mid-morning. I am such a big fan of this time of year! Love the crisp air, jewel-toned leaves, warm cups of yum and cozy evenings. One of my new found passions lately has been decorating. I think it's another way for me to be creative. I found a quote in a magazine the other day that I loved: "I don't subscribe to a matchy aesthetic. If you love it, it will work." I apply that to my life as well. I am learning that everything doesn't have to match. I rarely buy brand new and love that most of my pieces do not match but somehow they all go together. It makes a room have more style and overall more interesting to look at. Today, I was able to go to a garage sale and find a few things to add to my home. I found a lampshade and stand for $6, a vintage rose dress for my daughter for $1, a cute shabby chic style jewelry holder in the shape of a shoe for $3 and a floral tablecloth for $1, which I might save to make pillow cases, curtains or a table runner for my daughter's room. Also, looking in magazines for ideas is a great way to be inspired and learn how the pros decorate. I like to decorate a lot with books. They seem to add a sense of peace and mystery to a room. Candles, pillows and blankets are always a must!
Have to add that my shortbread craisin cookies came out so good. This past week, my son and I made pumpkin bread muffins from Trader Joe's pumpkin bread mix and it was delicious! We added chocolate chips to give it that morning stop at a sweet café taste! A great way to celebrate the season!
